Beachside Holiday Park, by the Beach in Westward Ho!

Beachside Holiday Park in Westward Ho! is one of four holiday parks in the Surf Bay Holidays Group.  This is the original holiday park and dates back to 1905 when the first generation of the Taylors in the business, set up the holiday park converting a field owned by his parents into a campsite.

The original name for Beachside Holiday Park was ‘Taylors Western’ as the park was situated towards the western edge of the village. The village itself is relatively new with the first dated developments in around 1865, notably with the building of the United Services College in 1874. In essence, ‘Taylors Western’ was probably one of the first dedicated campsites in the area. The notable feature is the position of the park, set up to take advantage of the best of the views both of Westward Ho! beach in the foreground and Saunton Sands in the distance.

Beachside Holiday Park in Westward Ho! evolved from Taylors Western and as static caravans evolved to more suitable, permanent holiday accommodation around the early 1970’s, Beachside Holiday Park converted towards a caravan holiday park, serving the growing village of Westward Ho! with quality accommodation.

The business itself evolved into the largest distributor of static caravans in the South West and Surf Bay Leisure grew from Beachside and other holiday parks to become a primary distributor of new and used static caravans. That significantly benefitted Beachside Holiday Park, having the highest quality static caravans in Westward Ho! and developing a reputation as the leading holiday park for quality accommodation in the area.

Today, Beachside Holiday Park continues to evolve as the village of Westward Ho! grows and develops.
